Questions and answers

Q.        Why do my muscles ache when I have not done anything?
A.        Even in normal everyday activities muscles use up energy to work. This creates waste products or toxins. With this normal slow activity rate the muscles remain cool. They have reduced blood flow, which is insufficient to remove all these waste products (this is why you warm up your muscles before exercising).  Massage done properly and slowly increases the blood flow and so removes these toxins.

Q.        Why do I feel sick after a massage?
A.        If you have a large level of toxins in your muscles, which are then released in to your blood this can make you feel sick until the level drops. Please inform who ever is doing the massage as soon as you feel sick for them to stop and rest.

Q.        Are these toxins harmful in large doses?
A.        They can make you feel more then ill, the heart and lungs have to work harder. So do your kidneys, which need to remove the toxins. If you think you might have any heart or kidney problems tell who ever is performing the massage, as they may work slower to reduce the level of toxins in your blood at any time. 2 1/2 hour sessions may be better for you then a 1 hour session.

Q.        Why do I feel so tired after the massage?
A.        If you have had a face and scalp massage, the extra blood flow and relaxation touching can put you in a semi-trance like state.

Q.        My arms/legs feel so heavy after the massage.
A.        By relaxing the muscles and increasing the blood flow it can make them feel sleepy.

After any massage you should allow about 1 hour to rest/sleep afterwards, this allows the body time to remove the toxins from the blood. You will feel better for it afterwards.
